And the big-ticket, high-stakes upgrade is picking up speed.
Google moved into the fast lane last week. The internet giant announced it will invest $9 billion in the Palmetto State on an accelerated two-year schedule to handle the skyrocketing demand from businesses, government agencies and individuals jumping on the artificial-intelligence bandwagon.
