For MRIs, scans, and x-rays, the labs often sent the reports to me at the same time as they were sent to my doctor. Unable to easily interpret the medical jargon, I immediately turned to AI and went through each line of the report where it indicated something was abnormal. With links from the AI results, I could quickly see diagrams of the sections of the body referenced and compare them to my symptoms.
I would then ask AI to investigate the protocols for dealing with these issues and rank ones I thought seemed most relevant to my injury and pain.
AI can help you understand what your doctors see—and sometimes what they might overlook.
For example, AI highlighted the significance of bone edema and labral tears in my hip, prompting more targeted conversations with my care team. But you need to use reputable AI tools, and use them well.
If you’ve been using AI all along and have been slowly and carefully inputting your injury and treatment options, you can go to your previous “conversation” and add to it.
The more specific information you give AI—without giving too much personal information—the more AI will narrow its results and suggestions.
Don’t underestimate how much more empowered you’ll feel when you can know the options for treatment and can discuss them intelligently.
