AI executive order asks companies for early model access

BARRON’S — The White House issued an executive order establishing a voluntary process for artificial-intelligence models to be assessed for cybersecurity threats. President Donald Trump had delayed the release of the order two weeks ago amid concerns that it was too stringent.
The impetus for the order was Anthropic’s Mythos model. The AI start-up had found that its hacking capabilities were so good that it posed a major cyber threat. It has only been previewed to the U.S. government and select software makers, including cybersecurity vendors.
