As AI Power demands soar, Anthropic makes an unprecedented sustainability move

INC. — The Claude developer joined Frontier, a coalition of companies promising to buy carbon removal before the technology is available on a commercial scale. Frontier said Wednesday that its members are committing another $915 million to the effort, nearly doubling the coalition’s total funding to $1.8 billion.
Anthropic is the first standalone AI developer to join the coalition. Its individual contribution, which is defined as the amount of carbon it expects to remove and the emissions those purchases will address, was not disclosed.
