INC. — Now, a new report suggests that one of the bigger worries about AI may actually be coming true: Overreliance on AI could be causing a genuine problem. Workplace AI use is so widespread and so frequent for some users that a hefty chunk of the workforce now thinks they couldn’t soldier through a day at their workstation without AI’s help.
In fact, half of the employees in a new survey said they feel like they rely too much on AI, and just under a third said they “feel they can’t function without it.” Worse still, at least from a psychology of work point of view, nearly two in five workers (39 percent) admit they think relying on AI is “making them less intelligent.”
