OpenAI’s paradox: ChatGPT owner files for IPO but wants to stay private for ‘a while’

BARRON’S — “We expect it to leak so we’re just announcing it,” the company said in the blog post.
OpenAI added that it hasn’t decided on the timing of when it will officially go public and it “may be a while,” as there are “things we want to do that are likely easier as a private company.”
“It’s a complicated set of tradeoffs and this gives us the option to go public sooner if that ends up being best,” OpenAI added.
