INC. — Here’s how the Midjourney Scanner works, according to the company’s official blog post: Users step onto a platform that’s rigged to descend into a pool of water. The inner walls of this pool feature a ring of half a million tiny waterproof sensors, “each the size of a fine grain of sand, and each capable of acting as both a tiny speaker and a tiny microphone.”
As the platform lowers users into the pool, these tiny sensors send millions of ultrasonic sound waves through the human body. As these sound waves travel through the water and the patient’s body, they change shape. By using AI to analyze these changes in shape, the company says, it is able to “reconstruct a detailed map or ‘image’ which basically lets us figure out what’s in there.”
