Airbnb’s CEO is reportedly building a new AI lab—and it has nothing to do with the rental company

INC. — The new project from Chesky will not be directly connected to Airbnb. It will develop AI models and focus on user interaction and design, according to a report from Bloomberg. Even as he pursues the new venture, Chesky will remain CEO of Airbnb and will not take a role of similar caliber at the new AI lab. According to Bloomberg, the project is in its early stages of funding.
This will be Chesky’s first formal dip into the AI space after 20 years of running one of the world’s largest rental marketplaces.
