Anthropic’s Claude Mythos is so powerful, it 'could reshape cybersecurity'

INC. — Why? Anthropic says it’s because “the capabilities we’ve observed in Mythos Preview could reshape cybersecurity.” Over just the past few weeks, Anthropic claims, Mythos has identified “thousands” of vulnerabilities across websites and apps, “including some in every major operating system and web browser.”
The company said that Mythos “discovered a 16-year-old vulnerability in FFmpeg—which is used by innumerable pieces of software to encode and decode video—in a line of code that automated testing tools had hit five million times without ever catching the problem.” Anthropic says it had informed companies about the vulnerabilities discovered by Mythos.
