Apple reportedly lobbies Trump admin for permission to buy Chinese chips

PC MAG — Following a big price hike earlier this week, Apple is reportedly lobbying the Trump administration for approval to buy memory chips from Chinese semiconductor firm CXMT.
Apple chalked up the price increases, which hit iPads and MacBooks, to the ongoing memory chip shortage, which is threatening to push up prices for many types of consumer electronics.
CXMT is listed on the government's 1260H list, which indicates that the company works with China's military. Companies on this list are not allowed to enter into contracts to provide goods, services, or technology to the Pentagon.
