I build robots that restore ecosystems. Here’s why AI is being used for the opposite

INC.  —  Having built a robot that can plant corals and seagrasses, I know that making something that explodes and kills is far easier than making something that heals and supports life. Yet we are actively pouring billions into killing robots, and hardly anything into restoration robots.

It’s puzzling because the killing robots will make our world more dangerous and the profits will benefit just a few people. Meanwhile restoration robots could make our world more vibrant and their development would benefit everyone through restored ecosystem function.
