Mark Cuban’s AI warning: The difference between learning and brain rot

INC. — Cuban’s metaphor is a typically colorful way to describe the two types of AI users and their diverging fates. But researchers have issued similar warnings about the costs of using AI to avoid difficult cognitive tasks in drier, more technical language.
A much-discussed recent MIT Media Lab study found that when students leaned on AI to write essays, their brains were less active and they retained far less information. Many struggled to quote from their own papers just minutes after “writing” them.
