Microsoft reshapes workforce, offering buyouts to nearly 9,000 employees as it pours billions into AI

INC. — The program targets employees at the senior director level and below whose combined age and years of service equal at least 70, while employees on sales incentive plans will not be able to participate. Eligible workers, and their managers, will receive more details on May 7, according to CNBC


The move comes as Microsoft continues to ramp up spending on artificial intelligence infrastructure, particularly data centers needed to support its cloud and generative AI services. Like many of its big tech peers, the company is balancing aggressive investment with efforts to rein in costs, CNBC reported.
