Microsoft rethinks its relationship with Copilot

INC, — Three years ago, the tech giant introduced its artificial intelligence digital assistant as a “personal companion” and praised it as “the future of work.” Microsoft gave Copilot a home in popular apps like Outlook, Word, and Excel, incorporated it into Windows 11, and honored their commitment with a dedicated key on every Windows laptop in 2024, kicking the right Ctrl key to the curb.
But now the internet is buzzing over a distinct change in Microsoft’s attitude. Copilot no longer means business, says the company that nurtured the AI tool. It’s officially for “entertainment purposes only.” Microsoft is even advising users not to ask Copilot for “important advice,” especially anyone pondering medical, legal, and financial matters.
