Rapid City teen starts new company operating AI-powered vending machines

KOTA — 15-year-old John Freidel founded Rapid Stop, a company operating AI-powered vending machines in the City of Presidents.
“When you think of vending, you’re thinking of a clunky big red or big blue box that spits out drinks or whatever,” Freidel said.
Freidel’s machines are different - users tap their card, open the door, take what they want, and AI uses footage from cameras inside to determine which products were taken and charge the user accordingly.
