INC. — Agus Panzoni, head of culture strategy at Death to Stock said that such obfuscation is a big reason why more people are turning to the cyberdeck. Panzoni said in a recent Instagram reel: “Hardware got glued shut and the systems deciding what we see, make, and consume everyday, from recommendation algorithms to generative AI, have largely become a company secret.”
Also compelling is that cyberdecks offer a realistic alternative to the enshittification of mass-produced electronics. “I don’t want Meta AI glasses, I want to pirate books in a tiny embellished shell,” Kim said. “No one can surveil you there.”
